Meet Amy J. Crook: The Newest Equine Facilitator at Chinook Horses

Chinook Horses is excited to welcome Amy J. Crook, MS, LMFT, as our latest addition to the team of dedicated equine facilitators. With a robust educational and professional background, Amy brings a wealth of expertise and a passionate approach to equine-facilitated therapy.

Amy holds a double major in psychology and sociology from MSU-Billings, complemented by a Master’s degree from Seattle Pacific University. Throughout her career, Amy has dedicated herself to helping people of all ages confront and overcome a variety of challenges. "I work with all ages and enjoy helping others take back their lives from any challenges that keep them stuck or abuse/oppression that may hinder their ability to know who they really are and what they value for themselves or want out of relationships," Amy explains.

She specializes in addressing severe issues such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, neglect, and mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Amy’s approach is systemic and holistic, focusing on stress, relationship concerns, and trauma dynamics across individual, group, and family settings.

Amy’s journey into equine-facilitated therapy began with her own experiences with horses and a desire to explore alternative healing modalities. "I have always valued other approaches for healing and modalities to work on trauma and its impact on people, as well as horses for my own healing and enjoyment out of life," she shares. This passion led her to utilize her love for animals and people in a therapeutic setting, offering a deeper emotional and mental health exploration beyond traditional talk therapy.

What Amy loves most about working with Chinook Horses is the collaborative spirit and the unique healing environment that the combination of animals and community provides. "The team and collaboration of the healing that animals and community bring to people," she states, encapsulate what she finds most rewarding in her role.

Beyond her professional life, Amy enjoys a variety of activities that keep her connected to nature and her community. She is an enthusiast of water sports, nature, and music, which allow her to maintain a balanced and joyful lifestyle.

Amy is a vibrant addition to Chinook Horses, and her holistic, client-centered approach enriches our program, making a significant impact on the lives of those we serve. We are thrilled to have her on board, helping to guide our clients through their journeys of healing and self-discovery.
